Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has urged the Health Minister to fulfil a pledge to provide care workers with the real Living Wage. McGuigan, the party's health spokesperson, made the statement before a Sinn Féin motion scheduled for the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The motion seeks a detailed strategy to enhance and secure homecare services long-term. McGuigan stated that care workers exert exceptional effort for vulnerable and elderly individuals but believe their worries about homecare conditions receive insufficient attention.

He pressed the minister to identify core challenges in homecare and collaborate with employees and providers for prompt solutions. McGuigan highlighted the need for a full strategy to resolve immediate homecare problems and establish it as a stable career option moving forward.

Sinn Féin intends to advocate for care workers and affirm the value placed on their daily contributions to high-quality service.
