Jack Coleman, 33, from Drumnamoe Gardens in Lurgan, County Armagh, pleaded guilty at Craigavon Magistrates Court to driving while unfit through drugs and possessing 5.5 grams of cocaine.

Police responded to a report about a Suzuki S Cross in the Spar car park on William Street, Lurgan, on October 4 of last year. Officers identified Coleman as the driver. As he left the vehicle, they saw a bag of white powder on the driver's seat.

A search in custody uncovered 10 additional bags of 0.5 grams of cocaine each concealed on his person. Coleman tested negative for alcohol but blood tests confirmed high levels of cocaine.

His barrister noted Coleman's ongoing drug problems, as shown in his record.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan stated Coleman must stay off roads for a long time due to his poor record and drug issues. The judge said Coleman avoided immediate jail because the case moved quickly.

Coleman received four months in jail, suspended for 12 months, for both charges. He also faces a three-year driving ban.
