Andrew Loughlin, 47, formerly of Antrim town and now of Princeton Drive in Lurgan, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine on October 1 last year.

Police were handling a separate incident in the street when Loughlin approached them from his property. Officers then searched the house and found a small amount of cocaine.

The case was heard at Antrim Magistrates Court, which sat in Ballymena on Tuesday. A prosecutor outlined how the drugs were discovered.

A defence barrister stated that Loughlin had overcome serious addictions and separated himself from drugs.

Deputy District Judge Sean O'Hare noted Loughlin's extensive criminal record, which included past jail terms.

The court imposed a two-month prison sentence, suspended for one year.
