Terry George, a screenwriter from Belfast, will write and direct a film titled Ceasefire about the Northern Ireland peace process. The production involves actors Jane Fonda, Ciarán Hinds, John C Reilly and Chris O'Dowd. Shooting is scheduled later this year in Ireland.

The story centers on Niall O'Dowd, an Irish-American journalist who worked to establish a secret communication link between the IRA and the Clinton administration. Chris O'Dowd will portray O'Dowd. Jane Fonda will play Jean Kennedy Smith, the US ambassador to Ireland. John C Reilly will portray Bruce Morrison, an Irish-American congressman. Ciarán Hinds will portray Bill Flynn, a businessman.

Fine Point Films in Belfast and Wildcard in Dublin are producing the film. Bankside Films will manage sales at the Cannes film festival, which starts May 12th.
