Antrim Magistrates Court in Ballymena banned Gary Gibson Toan from driving after his vehicle reached 100mph in a 70mph zone on the M2 motorway at Rathbeg near Antrim town.

The incident occurred on July 12. Officers stopped Toan, aged 43, of Glasgow Street in Belfast, and spoke to him at the time.

The court sat on Tuesday and proceeded in Toan's absence. A prosecutor noted that a court adjournment notice had previously been sent to the defendant.
