Chris McCay from Derry will run the Belfast Marathon to raise funds for Derry Well Woman. The race starts at Stormont at 9am and finishes in Ormeau Park on May 3, 2026.

Derry Well Woman welcomed McCay to a meeting at St Columb’s Hall on Wednesday. Rhonda Murphy, general manager of the centre, praised his support for their services.

The organisation offers healthcare for women, including mother-and-baby programmes, counselling, mental health support and clinics for menopause and endometriosis. It runs support groups and conducts research on women's health needs in Derry and surrounding areas.

Murphy stated the centre listens to women and responds to their requirements as a community-based group.

McCay said his run aims to generate positive attention for men in Northern Ireland and support women's safety and services. He noted young men have a responsibility to raise awareness.

Kearney Law Group selected Derry Well Woman as its charity of the year for 2026.

Derry Well Woman plans to travel to Belfast with banners to cheer McCay during the marathon.
