The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs published provisional statistics on local authority collected municipal waste in Northern Ireland for October to December 2025. The data covers the third quarter of the 2025/26 financial year.

Local councils and waste management groups report key measurements including waste arisings, reuse, dry recycling, composting, energy recovery and landfill. Figures come from returns to WasteDataFlow, a system used by all UK local authorities.

All data remains provisional pending final end-year validation. A full annual report with validated 2025/26 figures is due in November 2026.

Northern Ireland has 11 district councils. Eight belong to two main waste management groups: arc21 includes Antrim & Newtownabbey, Ards & North Down, Belfast, Lisburn & Castlereagh, Mid & East Antrim and Newry, Mourne & Down. North West Regional Waste Management Group covers Causeway Coast & Glens and Derry City & Strabane. Three councils operate independently.

The quarterly series dates back to the 2009/10 financial year. DAERA updates it every three months.
