Darren McBride, 33, of no fixed abode in Belfast, faces charges for driving without insurance for a 10th time. The offence took place on August 17, 2023, when he drove an Audi A4 on the M22 motorway near Antrim town.

Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, heard the case on Tuesday. Deputy District Judge Sean O'Hare stated the defendant's record includes eight prior convictions for driving without insurance.

Court records indicate an additional conviction for the same offence in Belfast last September.

A defence barrister noted the defendant's record as an aggravating factor.

The case adjourned to June 2 for a pre-sentence report.
