Police from the PSNI Road Policing Strategic Unit at Mahon Road stopped a tractor on the M1 motorway near Lisburn on Wednesday.

The vehicle was travelling from Co Cavan to Ballymena. Officers stated tractors are not permitted on motorways.

The driver was aged 16 and held only a provisional licence from the Republic of Ireland. This entitlement did not permit driving on Northern Ireland roads.

The driver's parents travelled about three hours to Lisburn to address the incident.
