Sinn Féin MLA Pushes for Emergency Dental Clinic in Fermanagh
Sinn Féin MLA Áine Murphy has requested a dedicated emergency dental clinic in Fermanagh. She contacted the Health Minister after the announcement of £8 million funding to expand dental services across Northern Ireland.
Murphy welcomed the funds but stressed the need to fix disparities between regions. Fermanagh lacks NHS emergency dental care, she noted.
Residents in the rural county travel long distances for urgent treatment or go to A&E departments. This affects older people, families with young children and those without cars, according to Murphy.
She called the situation untenable and pressed for the Western Health and Social Care Trust's new services to include a facility in Fermanagh.
Murphy argued that public health services must deliver consistent access and ease pressure on emergency units. A clinic in Fermanagh would promote fair distribution of dental care, she stated.
