Vandals Damage Outdoor Play Area at Clady Preschool in Armagh
Vandals damaged the outdoor play area at Clady Tiny Tots preschool in Clady, Armagh. The incident affected equipment including a play frame installed relatively recently.
Clady Tiny Tots provides preschool care in the village. The group stated that the damaged items form a vital part of children's daily learning, development, and wellbeing. It noted that repairs or replacements add financial strain during a period of high costs already affecting the playgroup.
The preschool appealed for an end to such incidents. It emphasized that its facilities serve only local children. Clady Tiny Tots warned that continued behaviour will lead to further action, including release of CCTV footage.
Local Sinn Féin representatives condemned the vandalism. Cusher councillor Bróna Haughey said the damage upset families and staff. She described it as harming a space where children learn, play, and feel safe, including new equipment. Haughey stated it burdens a service for children when resources matter most. She confirmed engagement with statutory agencies and urged information from the public.
Newry and Armagh MLA Cathal Boylan called the incident disgraceful. He said it impacts children and families by reducing opportunities and adding pressure. Boylan added there is no justification and those responsible must face accountability. He pledged work with agencies to stop the behaviour.
