Emmett O’Neill, 31, from Gulladuff Road in Bellaghy, received a £60 fine plus a £15 offender levy at court for using a mobile phone while driving.

The incident took place on July 19, 2023. Police in a car traveling in the opposite direction saw O’Neill holding the phone to his ear with his lips moving.

A defence lawyer stated that O’Neill answered the call because his Bluetooth was not functioning.
