Pipe Band and Drum Major Championships Set for New Fermanagh Venue
The Pipe Band and Drum Major Championships will take place at Necarne Castle in Irvinestown on Saturday, May 23. The event is organised by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Co Fermanagh Section. This marks the first time the championships will occur in Irvinestown.
The competition starts at 11am and continues into early evening. It ends with a march past of all competing bands. Competitors include world, European, Scottish and Irish champions. The Irvine Memorial Pipe Band from Clabby will compete in Grade 3A.
Kenny Fisher will serve as Chieftain. Betty Booth, President of the Co Fermanagh Section, stated the section is pleased to bring the championships to Irvinestown. She credited the committee led by Chairman William Stinson. The section thanked Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and other sponsors.
