A County Tyrone pipe band has won the UK Pipe Band Championships title in its grade during the competition held at Grove Playing Fields in Belfast.

Tullylagan Pipe Band’s grade 4B section took first place overall and also secured the best drums award. Its grade 2 band placed sixth.

The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association confirmed the results and congratulated pipe major Francis Strain, leading drummer Marcus Farrell, and all band members on the achievement.

Ulster-Scots Agency chief executive Ian Crozier described the event as a success and thanked the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association for bringing the championships to Belfast. He acknowledged financial and logistical support from Belfast City Council and input from partner organisations including event organisers of the Belfast International Tattoo, the Pipe Band College Northern Ireland, and Small Steps.

Crozier said the competition showed strong cultural links between Ulster and Scotland through pipe band traditions and family and community connections.
