A member of the public found an object in a field off Colebrook Road in Fivemiletown on Sunday, April 12. The individual reported it to police.

Officers went to the location. Ammunition Technical Officers attended and made the object safe. Police determined it to be a mortar from the World War Two period.

Fivemiletown lies in Fermanagh. The Second World War took place from September 1939 to September 1945.

The area around Fivemiletown accommodated US Army troops at Blessingbourne Estate in the 1940s.
