Paul Charles Releases Third McCusker Murder Mystery Novel
Paul Charles, a music manager from Magherafelt, has published the third novel in his series featuring Belfast detective Brendy McCusker. The book, titled after a line from a Van Morrison song, is set partly in Portrush, County Antrim.
The story opens in Portrush in 1976. Three teenage boys, Thomas Barry, Lefty Kelly and Brendy McCusker, encounter Isabella Scott on the streets. Thomas Barry comments after she drops her glove.
In July 2019, Barry's remains are found at the foot of the Pilgrim's Steps in Portrush Harbour. The discovery occurs during The Open Championship, which draws visitors to the area.
Detective Brendy McCusker and DI Lily O'Carroll travel from Belfast to aid local police. Their investigation uncovers secrets linked to Barry, his wife Isabella, her sister Colette, property deals and family connections.
Charles, aged 76, manages acts in the music industry. He has represented artists including Van Morrison and Rory Gallagher.
