DfI Seeks Funding Options for Derrygonnelly Decorative Street Lamps
The Department for Infrastructure is investigating external funding to install decorative street lamps in Derrygonnelly, County Fermanagh.
Some Victorian-style lamps, a long-standing feature of the village streetscape, were removed by the department in March as part of a street lighting renewal scheme.
Residents held a community meeting with department staff on March 9 to voice concerns about the modern replacement lamps.
The renewal scheme has been paused while the department assesses options.
A department spokesperson stated that budget pressures prevent funding decorative lighting internally, but officials are checking for external sources to cover the extra costs.
The spokesperson added that the department plans to finish the scheme after resolving issues and continues to engage with residents.
