Police in Strabane have received reports of counterfeit £20 notes in circulation in the area.

Business owners received advice to stay alert for the fakes. Police pointed out specific flaws to distinguish them from genuine notes.

The text 'Twenty Pounds' lacks raised printing on the counterfeit version. It also misses a hologram in the bottom right corner. Between the '£20' and 'Bank of England', a 'prop money' stamp appears covered by a pasted-on hologram.

Police shared images of a fake note alongside a real one for comparison.

Anyone finding such notes should contact police on 101 or through the online reporting portal.
