Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council will launch a pilot project providing free dog waste bags at People's Park in Portadown on Friday 24 April at 12pm.

The council has partnered with Rosie's Trust to install five dog waste bag dispensers in council-run parks. The launch coincides with Scoop the Poop Week from 23 to 29 April.

The dispensers received funding from a grant by Keep NI Beautiful's Live Here, Love Here programme. Council officials aim for the bags to cut dog fouling in public spaces.

Rosie's Trust supports cancer patients, people in end-of-life care, and elderly individuals with mobility issues in Northern Ireland to care for their pets. Volunteers deliver over 10,000 hours of dog walking annually.

Aileen Martin, chair of Rosie's Trust, stated the council and Keep NI Beautiful backed the project to address dog fouling and promote the charity. She invited dog owners to attend the launch for refreshments, free items, and talks on volunteering in the area.
