Tumbling Paddies Frontman Buys Historic Pub in Derrylin
Gareth Maguire, frontman of The Tumbling Paddies, and his partner Megan Reilly have purchased Blake’s Bar in Derrylin, Fermanagh. The pub has operated for more than a century. They plan to rename it Maguire’s Derrylin.
Maguire, a Derrylin native, stated his aim is to ready the bar within the next one or two months. Renovations inside the building are required before any opening. After establishing the bar, they intend to introduce food service with a focus on hiring a skilled chef and staff.
Music will follow as a key element. Jimmy Buckley is booked provisionally for August 28 as the first act on the function side. The Tumbling Paddies are scheduled to perform on August 30, pending final arrangements.
Maguire plans a range of entertainment beyond traditional or country music genres. The pub’s location on the main Dublin road positions it to attract visitors between Derrylin and Enniskillen.
Maguire expressed hope that Derrylin and Fermanagh residents will support the venture. He wants to foster community spirit in the area through events at the pub. Reilly has prior experience working in pubs.
