Sinn Féin MLA Calls for PSNI Disciplinary Reforms After Sexism Review
Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon has urged the Justice Minister to change regulations and improve disciplinary processes in the PSNI. She made the call after a review by Rachel Langdale found evidence of sexism and misogyny in the force along with flaws in its misconduct procedures.
Dillon serves on the Policing Board. She stated that the review highlights the need to address unacceptable behaviours within the PSNI. The comments follow a separate report on predatory behaviour by officers.
Dillon has advocated for legislation to accelerate the dismissal of officers. She said supervisors require training to spot and challenge predatory actions through formal channels.
She added that such legislation and other report recommendations must come quickly to combat violence against women and girls.
