Firefighters Rescue 300 Sheep from Hay Shed Blaze in Banbridge
Firefighters from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service rescued 300 sheep from a hay shed fire at a farm on Cascum Road in Banbridge.
The alarm was raised at 9.03pm on Thursday, April 2. Over 40 firefighters and six fire appliances attended the scene near the Boulevard shopping venue.
The NIFRS Large Animal Rescue Team from Newcastle led the sheep to safety. Crews used a telehandler to remove burning hay and fight the fire.
Firefighters worked through the night. Area Commander Suzanne Fleming stated on Friday morning that a large fire remained ongoing at 26 Cascum Road.
Fleming confirmed operations would continue for some time as efforts persisted to bring the blaze under control.
