A section of Upper Galliagh Road in Derry/Londonderry closes to through traffic from Monday, March 30, for up to five days. NI Water contractor BSG will install pipes between Temple Court and Woodbrook West.

The pipelaying supports the Lenamore and Skeoge Wastewater Projects. These projects include new wastewater pumping stations and sewers for housing developments.

Access remains open from each side of the closure, past the Temple Court junction. Motorists follow a signed diversion via Upper Galliagh Road, Buncrana Road, Skeoge Link Road, Clon Dara, and Lower Galliagh Road.

NI Water Head of Wastewater Infrastructure Capital Delivery John Griffin stated that work on the Lenamore Wastewater Pumping Station near Heather Road advances. Pipelaying continues to connect it to a sewer on Madams Bank Road.

Planning for the Skeoge Wastewater Pumping Station awaits approval. Pipelaying progresses to link Skeoge with Lenamore. After Upper Galliagh, work shifts to areas near Templemore Sports Complex and between the complex and Lenamore station.

The projects total a £20m investment by NI Water. This provides infrastructure for new homes in northwest Derry/Londonderry. NI Water also relines the Culmore Trunk Sewer to support the new systems long-term.
