Lisburn Driver Disqualified After Fleeing Lidl Car Park Collision
Steven Boyes, 50, from Tirowen Drive in Park, Lisburn, appeared before Lisburn Magistrates Court on charges of failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident, and driving without insurance.
The incident took place on August 19, 2025, at 6.30pm in the Lidl car park in Lisburn. Boyes drove into the car park and collided with another vehicle. The collision caused the other vehicle's bumper to detach and damaged its wheel arch.
Police visited the address of the vehicle's last registered owner. Boyes admitted he knew about the collision but left the scene because the vehicle lacked insurance.
Defence barrister Peter Coiley requested no custodial sentence. Coiley noted Boyes holds full-time employment and supports a family. Boyes recognises the trouble caused by his actions.
District Judge Rosie Watters described Boyes's record as poor. She disqualified him from driving for two years.
Watters fined Boyes £150 on each charge of failing to stop and failing to report the accident. She added a £15 offender's levy.
Watters imposed an 18-month probation order. She stated the probation provides an opportunity for Boyes to address his behaviour and avoid future offences.
