Ballycastle Photographer Praises Causeway Hospital After Allergic Reaction
Kevin McAuley, a photographer from Ballycastle in Co Antrim, was admitted to Causeway Hospital in Coleraine after a severe allergic reaction to dye used in a CT scan. The incident caused vision problems, hearing issues, swelling and a rash.
Initial treatment took place in the hospital's Emergency Department. McAuley was then moved to a surgical ward where he continues to recover.
McAuley described the staff response as outstanding. He noted the care from doctors, nurses, auxiliaries and support teams showed high levels of attention and professionalism.
This marks the third time Causeway Hospital has treated him for serious conditions. On prior occasions, staff addressed blood poisoning and other life-threatening issues.
McAuley highlighted staff attentiveness to patients, including time for conversation and flexibility for family visits.
His son Steven manages McAuley Multimedia, the family's photography business operating across Northern Ireland. McAuley offers advice while focusing on recovery.
McAuley expects to leave hospital in several days and plans to take recovery slowly.
