NISRA Releases Q4 2025 Economic Output and March 2026 Labour Market Statistics for Northern Ireland
The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency released economic output statistics for the fourth quarter of 2025. The data includes services sector output and production sector output.
NISRA published labour market statistics on 19 March 2026. In February 2026, payrolled employees totalled 820,800. This marked a 0.2% rise from the prior month and a 1.4% increase from the year before. Median monthly pay reached £2,493, up £43 or 1.8% monthly and £189 or 8.2% annually.
Labour Force Survey data showed the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate at 2.2% for November 2025 to January 2026. This figure fell 0.2 percentage points from the previous quarter but rose 0.6 points yearly.
The employment rate for ages 16 to 64 stood at 71.6%, up 0.9 points quarterly but down 0.6 points annually. Employed people aged 16 and over numbered 895,000, gaining 15,000 quarterly but losing 4,000 yearly. Weekly hours worked totalled 28.9 million, down 0.9% both quarterly and yearly.
Economic inactivity rate for ages 16 to 64 was 26.7%, down 0.8 points quarterly but up 0.1 points yearly. The seasonally adjusted claimant count in February 2026 was 35,600 or 3.6% of the workforce, down 0.6% monthly.
Confirmed redundancies reached 140 in February 2026. The annual total from March 2025 to February 2026 was 2,360, exceeding the prior year's 1,880 by over 25%. Proposed redundancies totalled 190 that month, with an annual figure of 2,930, down 4% from the previous year.
Quarterly Employment Survey recorded 843,860 employee jobs in December 2025, up 0.3% quarterly and 1.3% yearly.
