The Department for Infrastructure has extended an experimental traffic control scheme allowing taxis to use certain bus lanes in Belfast city centre by six months. The extension enables monitoring of the scheme's effectiveness after Durham Street reopened.

A public consultation on the scheme opened to gather views from road users and stakeholders. The department seeks input to inform future decisions on taxi access to bus lanes.

Officials plan to continue assessing the scheme's impact on road users during the extension period.

Responses can be submitted via an online survey by 5pm on Wednesday 10 June 2026.
