Cllr Ruairí McHugh, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, has secured initial sponsors for his charity fitness event, Mayor-Rox. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Melvin Sports Complex in Strabane.

Confirmed sponsors are Corlin, McColgan's Quality Foods, and Declan Devine Foods. Lynch Tar and Lynch Coach Hire are silver sponsors. Carlin Construction & Joinery is a bronze sponsor. McHugh met with representatives from Corlin, McColgan's Quality Foods, and Declan Devine Foods to launch the sponsorship programme.

Mayor-Rox is a chip-timed competition that pairs running with functional workout stations. Participants can enter individually, in pairs, in a half-Rox format, or as relay teams.

Proceeds go to PIPS Suicide Prevention Ireland and the Castlederg Patient Comfort and Terminally Ill Fund. All entrants must make a minimum donation of £50. Participants are encouraged to raise more through sponsorship.

McHugh thanked the businesses for their backing. He noted the event's value to the charities and invited additional businesses to participate.
