Yellow Wind Warning Covers Northern Ireland Until Midday Thursday
A yellow wind warning remains active across Northern Ireland until midday on Thursday. The Met Office forecasts gusts of 40 to 50mph in most areas during the morning. Some spots may experience gusts of 50 to 60mph with heavy rain for a brief period.
Winds are expected to ease from the west later in the morning. The warning started at 6am. Forecasters predict possible delays to road, rail, ferry and air transport. Short-term power losses and other service disruptions may occur.
Heavy rain accompanies the strong winds in Northern Ireland this morning. The conditions stem from an active weather front moving southeast across the UK. No snow or ice warnings apply to the region.
