Enniskillen RAF Cadet Named Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for Fermanagh
A 15-year-old RAF Air Cadet from Enniskillen received appointment as the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for Fermanagh on Saturday.
Victoria Benson, a corporal in the Enniskillen Royal Air Force Air Cadets squadron, holds the ceremonial position. The squadron launched nearly two years ago. She marks the first cadet from the unit selected for this role.
The position requires representing youth groups and assisting the Lord Lieutenant with duties. The ceremonial duty traces back at least 200 years.
Wing Commander Chris Hodges of RAFAC in Northern Ireland offered congratulations to Corporal Benson. He described the appointment as one of the best experiences in his role and predicted a memorable year ahead for her.
Pilot Officer Spencer Mitchell, who assists with the Enniskillen squadron, called the appointment a major achievement for the young unit. He noted Corporal Benson's dedication, appearance, and professionalism in uniform.
