Free Stop-Smoking Clinics Offered in Derry Shopping Centres
Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum organises free health checks and stop-smoking clinics in Derry shopping centres as part of No Smoking Month. The events partner with local organisations to offer advice from trained staff.
Aisling Hutton from the forum stated that quitting smoking improves health but requires support. She noted that the clinics provide information on available help, serving as a starting point even for those considering a quit attempt.
A forum spokesperson said smoking causes thousands of hospital admissions and deaths annually in the area.
Clinics take place at Ráth Mór Shopping Centre on Tuesday, March 10 from 10am to 2pm. Another runs at Quayside Shopping Centre on Wednesday, March 11 from 11am to 2pm.
Local residents can drop in to speak with staff and learn about quit-smoking options. The forum recommends setting a quit date, planning with nicotine replacement products, contacting local services, and informing family and friends for encouragement.
