Derry saw multiple events over International Women's Day weekend. A spoken word gathering took place in a city centre venue. Host Abby Oliveira dedicated the event to the Raytheon 9 women.

Performers included The Henry Girls, TRAMP, Eileen Webster, Moya Sweeney, Tillie & Henderson, Amanda Healy, Annie Ward, RUÁ, The Bluebelle Choir, Shazz White, Rachael Parkes, Jeanette Hutton and Leeanne Toland.

Attendees present were Aisling, Tanya and Bernie, Laura and Pat, Amy and Kenny, and Roisin, Ella and Deirdre McGrory with Jolene McLaughlin.

Derry City and Strabane District Council held Women Leading Change at The Bishop’s Gate Hotel on March 6. The Go Succeed team organised workshops, mentorship circles and collaborative sessions.

Jeananne Craig led the event. Panel speakers were Maria McKeever of Awaken Hub and Awaken Angels, Caroline Brooke McGuinness of Repair and Share Foyle, and Jade Bradley of Restore Nutrition.

Danielle McNally, council business development manager, called the event a success and thanked participants, facilitators and panellists.

A separate International Women’s Day march proceeded along Shipquay Street to Guildhall Square on Saturday.
