Police in Downpatrick are investigating a fire at a flat in the Galhaun area as arson with intent to endanger life. The incident occurred between 1.20am and 1.30am on Friday 6 March.

A wheelie bin was placed against the front door of the property and set alight. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service put out the blaze, which damaged the door.

A man inside the flat escaped through a window. Detective Sergeant Emerson said enquiries continue to determine the circumstances.
