Sinn Féin councillor Áine McCabe represents Black Mountain on Belfast City Council. She chairs the council's Women's Steering Group. McCabe will participate in events in Belfast from 5 to 9 March centred on International Women's Day.

On Thursday 5 March, McCabe will host a council event for women officers and representatives.

On Friday 6 March, McCabe will join The Tullymore Beacon’s Women’s Group in Andersonstown.

A rally assembles at 11.30am on Saturday 7 March at Writers' Square. It marches to City Hall. McCabe will welcome former President of Ireland Mary Robinson at City Hall.

On Sunday 8 March, McCabe and other Republican women will gather at the Roddy McCorley Women’s Garden.

McCabe will chair a panel discussion on Monday 9 March at Aras Uí Chonghaile. The discussion covers challenges for women asylum seekers.

International Women's Day occurs annually on 8 March.
