Lisburn Man Placed on Probation After Drug Possession Charges
Jamie McAllister, 28, of Scroggy Road in Lisburn, appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court on charges of possessing cocaine and cannabis.
CCTV operators from Citywatch spotted a man believed to hold drugs in Lisburn city centre at midnight on August 31, 2025. Police stopped McAllister at Chapel Hill, searched him, and found a small bag of white powder along with a green substance that smelled like cannabis.
In a police interview, McAllister confirmed the items were cocaine and cannabis for his personal use.
His defence stated he accepted the charges right away and now has stability after personal issues including a breakup, family problems, and homelessness. He attends Narcotics Anonymous four times weekly.
District Judge Rosie Watters sentenced him to 18 months probation. She instructed him to stop using drugs to avoid prison and suggested employment for better mental health. Watters noted each drug use counts as an offence and ordered the drugs destroyed.
