Seven students on the Be Your Own Boss course attended a breakfast event at South Eastern Regional College Downpatrick Campus. The course receives funding from the Department for Communities Neighbourhood Renewal Fund. It runs for 16 weeks and provides adults in the Downpatrick area with a Level 2 qualification in Enterprise along with business mentoring.

SERC Enterprise and Business Support staff hosted the event and welcomed the students. Representatives from Men’s Shed, County Down Rural Community Network, Clanrye Group and local businesses attended. Students presented their business ideas to the group.

Participants received feedback and advice from community members and business professionals. The event took place to support students in refining their plans and building confidence for launching enterprises.

The course aims to encourage entrepreneurship in the Downpatrick community.
