South Eastern Regional College's Downpatrick campus enrols student Corey on its Level 3 Creative Media Practice course. He transferred there after GCSEs at Blackwater Integrated College, following a recommendation from the school's careers officer.

Corey completed a Skills for Life and Work course at the college. He followed that with a Level 2 Traineeship in Retail.

The media course covers shot composition, graphic design, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Corey practises photography, his preferred area, with a camera he bought himself. Students access college resources and equipment for projects.

Corey applies film theory learned in class to analyse movies and production techniques.

Tutors support students through motivation and encouragement, including for those less outgoing.

The media course directed Corey toward careers in company promotion, professional photography or short films. He plans possible university studies.

Corey endorses SERC's environment for studies matching personal interests. The college hosts full-time open evenings from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday 5 March at Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards campuses.
