SERC announces August enrolment dates for further and higher education courses
South Eastern Regional College (SERC) has scheduled enrolment days for its higher education courses on Thursday 13 August and Friday 14 August 2026, from 9am at its Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards campuses. Further education, traineeship and apprenticeship enrolment will take place on Thursday 20 August and Friday 21 August 2026.
Deputy Principal Curriculum Gary Ritchie said that having a clear understanding of all available courses helps reduce stress for young people and their parents as they make decisions after receiving exam results.
SERC offers foundation degrees and degrees validated by universities including Ulster University and Queen’s University Belfast, as well as Higher National Certificates, Higher National Diplomas and Higher-Level Apprenticeships. Subjects range from animal care and business to engineering, healthcare, tourism and computing, with availability depending on campus and level of study.
A student from Portaferry, Eimear, progressed through Level 2 and Level 3 bakery qualifications at SERC's Bangor campus and is now studying for a Foundation Degree in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management. She stated that mentoring and entrepreneurship support from the college helped her develop her baking business, Eimear Bakes. As part of her studies, she hosted a charity coffee morning and gained international experience through trips to Valencia, Fuerteventura and South Africa.
Eimear plans to complete a full degree at Ulster University and hopes to work abroad using the industry connections she made during her travel placements. Careers advisors will be available on a drop-in basis during the enrolment days, and appointments can be arranged by email.
