Police charged a man from Strabane with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon intended for an indictable offence after an incident at an entertainment venue on Main Street.

The robbery took place on Monday, March 2, when cash was taken from the premises.

Slaine McGarrigle, 20, of Main Street in Strabane, appeared at Dungannon Magistrates Court on Wednesday, March 4. His legal team made no bail application due to lack of a suitable address. The court remanded him in custody for a next appearance at Strabane Magistrates Court on March 12.

Police noted that the Public Prosecution Service will examine the charges as standard practice.
