Limavady Youths FC Starts Training Trips from City of Derry Airport
Seventy young players from Limavady Youths Football Club flew from City of Derry Airport to Birmingham on an easyJet flight on February 27. The trip marked the start of a training program organized by Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.
Additional groups from the club plan to travel from the same airport during 2026. City of Derry Airport sponsors the club's senior team.
Timmy Dixon, chairman of Limavady Youths FC, said the partnership enables young players from the northwest to reach professional coaching and facilities. He added that it supports talent development and generates economic gains from higher airport traffic.
Steve Frazer, managing director of City of Derry Airport, stated the flights provide straightforward travel for players, coaches and parents. He highlighted the club's focus on youth skill-building and exposure to new settings.
