Fintona Woman Opens Cookery School After Retraining at Local College
Karen Dodds from Fintona has started Meadowclere Cookery School at her home in the village. The school provides instruction in cooking and baking.
Dodds worked in aviation for more than 27 years. Medical issues at age 46 led her to switch careers.
She enrolled at South West College's Enniskillen campus. Dodds completed Level 2 qualifications in professional cookery, patisserie and general confectionery. She now pursues Level 3 studies.
Dodds selected the college for its location and range of certified courses. She noted the hands-on training proved more physically intensive than her previous role.
Lecturers Claire and Stephen assisted Dodds throughout her studies. Their input helped her gain the skills needed to open the school.
South West College runs further education courses at locations in Fermanagh and Tyrone.
