South West College Students Win Medals in IFEX Culinary Categories
A team from South West College's Enniskillen campus earned silver medals for individual performances in the Cook and Serve Team Challenge at the IFEX Exhibition. The group also received the Team Challenge Cup for its overall silver standard. The event took place at the Eikon Exhibition Centre.
Students from the college's Dungannon, Omagh and Enniskillen campuses entered multiple categories at IFEX. These included the Plant Based Chef Challenge, Larder Knife Skills, Classical Junior Chicken, Student Culinarian of the Year and Serve and Cook Team Challenge.
Ronan Kerr, a former South West College degree student and WorldSkills medallist, mentored the students before the competition. College catering lecturers assisted with skill development and dish preparation. Staff from various departments handled transport, logistics, marketing and coordination.
South West College operates further education campuses across Tyrone and Fermanagh. The college runs hospitality and catering programmes. Students from these programmes also took part in WorldSkills competitions this year.
