Dove House Women in Derry Publish Short Story Collection Dove Tales
Women using services at Dove House Community Trust in Derry launched their short story collection Dove Tales on Monday. The event marked International Women's Day. Derry City and Strabane District Council Mayor Ruairi McHugh attended the gathering at the trust's premises.
Dove House chair Eileen Allen welcomed the mayor, course facilitator Pat McArt, participants, families and representatives from local organisations. Allen thanked funders The Executive Office, T-Buc, Urban Villages and Meenan Square Developments for their support.
Mayor McHugh praised the quality of the stories. He called the launch a positive beginning to International Women's Week for women in the Bogside area.
Dove House manager Jayne Quigg expressed satisfaction with attendance. She noted backing from the Neighbourhood Management Team, Creggan Neighbourhood Partnership, Hive Cancer Support, Gasyard Centre, OLT and Feile Derry.
The trust unveiled a billboard at Free Derry Corner to promote awareness of its work.
