Snow Set to Cover All of Northern Ireland from March 16
Weather models forecast snow across Northern Ireland starting around 9pm on March 16. The entire region will have settled snow by 6am on March 17.
Belfast will see snow during the initial flurries. Falls will continue for several hours into the night. Additional snow is expected around 9am the next day.
Accumulations will reach 1cm to 2cm in low-lying areas. Higher ground in Northern Ireland may see wintry showers, in line with Met Office expectations for the month.
The GFS model shows initial snow also affecting parts of Wales, northern England and Scotland. Northern Ireland sits at the forefront of this band.
Met Office outlooks for March 7 to 16 note high pressure dominating southern areas, with northern and western regions facing frontal systems. These could bring hill snow to the highest parts of Northern Ireland alongside rain and winds.
