Succeed in Enterprise Programme Opens for Derry and Strabane Entrepreneurs
Budding entrepreneurs in the Derry and Strabane area can now access support for new ventures through the Succeed in Enterprise Programme. The initiative is led by the Derry and Strabane Labour Market Partnership and delivered as part of a province-wide employability effort by the Department for Communities.
Funded by the Department for Communities, Labour Market Partnerships develop targeted employment action plans for council areas. These plans facilitate collaboration at local and regional levels to support people into work. Derry City and Strabane District Council has established its own partnership and action plan tailored to local needs.
The Succeed in Enterprise Programme runs for two years in partnership with Enterprise North West and Strabane Enterprise Agency. It provides one-to-one mentoring, workshops and financial support to help participants develop business and personal skills. The programme addresses barriers for those facing challenges in mainstream channels, including business plan development and idea testing.
Derry City and Strabane District Council Mayor Ruairí McHugh described the programme as a vital investment in local potential. Labour Market Partnership Manager Nicky Gilleece stated it builds skills, confidence and self-esteem while bridging gaps for aspiring business owners. Enterprise North West Programme Manager Caolan Campbell highlighted the effectiveness of its combined support elements.
