Royal Mail Launches First Parcel Lockers in Northern Ireland
Royal Mail has launched its first parcel lockers in Northern Ireland at four locations: the Northern Ireland Mail Centre in Newtownabbey, The Junction Retail & Leisure Park in Antrim, Ballymena Delivery Office, and Londonderry Delivery Office.
The lockers provide 24/7 access for customers to send, collect, and return parcels in high-footfall areas. They feature integrated label printing, enabling users to complete transactions by scanning a QR code without requiring a home printer.
Michael Clarke, Regional Operations Director for Northern Ireland at Royal Mail, stated that the launch expands the network and offers a quick, secure, and convenient service for customers at a time and place that suits them.
The Junction Retail & Leisure Park in Antrim is the first shopping centre in Northern Ireland to host a locker. Chris Flynn, Centre Director there, said the addition provides convenience for customers during shopping.
The initiative is part of Royal Mail's wider strategy, which includes Royal Mail Shops with extended hours and upgraded solar-powered postboxes for small parcels. These postboxes feature barcode scanners for proof of posting via the Royal Mail app.
