Delegates from a UK and Ireland heritage conference visited Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough to inspect heritage-led regeneration projects. The visit was part of the Heritage Trust Network Conference programme.

The group spent a day exploring historic towns and cities in the borough, focusing on the Armagh and Lurgan Townscape Heritage Projects. These projects restored vacant and derelict buildings and aimed to protect architectural heritage.

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Mary O’Dowd, said the borough was steeped in history and heritage. She said the visit allowed delegates to see how heritage can support regeneration and tourism.

The Heritage Trust Network Conference brings together organisations and individuals working to preserve and promote historic places. Hosting delegates was intended to raise awareness of the borough’s heritage assets and share examples of heritage-led regeneration.

The visit was part of the council’s ongoing commitment to heritage conservation and tourism development.
