An Antrim volunteer unit has received formal recognition in the UK Parliament for 75 years of service. South Antrim MP Robin Swann tabled Early Day Motion 756 in the House of Commons on 7 September, marking the anniversary of the St John Ambulance unit in Antrim, which was founded in 1951.

The motion welcomes the recent opening of a permanent home for the unit in Antrim, providing a base for its volunteers. It commends the generations of volunteers who have provided first aid coverage, emergency support, and community care since 1951, and records Parliament's gratitude for their selfless service.

Mr Swann described the anniversary as an opportunity to recognise both current members and past volunteers. He is due to join the unit on 5 October to celebrate the anniversary in person.

The Early Day Motion has attracted support from MPs Jim Allister and Jim Shannon.
