Historian and writer Gordon Lucy has died at the age of 69. Born in 1956, he worked until recently with the Ulster-Scots Community Network.

Lucy produced educational materials on people, history, and themes in Ulster-Scots tradition. The Arts Council of Northern Ireland supported this work for many years.

A graduate of Queen’s University Belfast, Lucy also attended Portora Royal School in Enniskillen. He published several books, including "The Ulster Covenant", "The Great Convention", and "Varieties of Scottishness".

Through his writing and talks, Lucy contributed to public understanding of shared history between Ulster and Scotland. He also worked with the Ulster Society.

Lucy is survived by his sisters and wider family circle.
