Police in Northern Ireland have advised pedestrians and cyclists to take steps to make themselves more visible when out during periods of low light or poor visibility.

In a statement, police said those walking or cycling should wear bright clothing, ideally fluorescent and reflective. Cyclists were also reminded to use lights and reflectors when it is dark or visibility is reduced.

The guidance was issued as part of efforts to improve road safety across Northern Ireland.

No specific incidents prompting the reminder were mentioned.
